Android™ Targeted in Scareware

A recent scareware scam is targeting Android™ users and scaring them into purchasing fake antivirus programs by falsely reporting viruses and Trojans are on their mobile device. According to Sophos® experts, the scareware app Android™ Defender lists known Android™ threats when its free downloadable system scan is run. To rid a mobile device of the non-existent malware, Android™ users must pay for the fraudulent antivirus software. As genuine as the Android™ security app appears, it is bogus.
