June 27, 2014  Security Suite

A multi-stage cyber attack, including a cloud breach, on a code hosting and project management services provider may have permanently destroyed data, backups, and machine configurations for the company and its customers. On June 17, CodeSpaces.com was hit with a distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS) attack followed by infiltration of the company’s Amazon EC2® account. As CodeSpaces.com attempted to regain control of its systems without giving in to ransom demands, the intruder deleted so much data Code Spaces reports it “will not be able to operate.” The company is now concentrating on returning any remaining data it may have back to its respective customers.
