Bitcoin℠ Malware Wants Your Currency

Bitcoin℠ owners should be aware of a possible new malware advertising itself as a Windows® application that will send price alerts to your mobile phone, but reportedly is after your bitcoins℠. The free application named Bitcoin Alarm hosts an encrypted file with a remote-access Trojan called NetWiredRC, reports security company Arbor Networks®. The Trojan can steal login credentials and all your currency. This free utility seems to be designed to pay itself with all your bitcoins℠, so downloaders beware.

Opening email attachments just got a bit more risky, especially for Microsoft Office® users working in the energy sector. Security software company Symantec® reports a new malware program named Trojan.Laziok arrives in emails and exploits a vulnerability in Microsoft Office® that actually should have been patched by users back in April 2012.
