Android is now the most targeted mobile platform by hackers - almost all new mobile malware are for the Android platform. A 400 percent increase has been reported in Android malware between 2009 and the summer of 2010. Most of these malicious applications attempt to steal information such as communications, locations or other personal information. To prevent being infected, we recommend that you do not install new applications from unknown sources or publishers.

Vulnerability like this is very dangerous because it does not require any action by the victim - all the hacker needs to compromise your smarthphone is your phone number.
