U.S. Department of Defense Reportedly Consolidating Networks

Plans are reportedly underway to consolidate 15,000 technology networks currently operating under the U.S. Department of Defense. The purported massive consolidation is expected to not only lower costs, but also help prevent malicious attacks and internal leaks of top-secret information. According to news sources, the network merger will place defense agencies, overseas commands and all four branches of the military under a single security architecture. This type of consolidation should make detecting security breaches and hacker attempts easier since identity access management technology and security systems would be standardized.
