Executives Prepare for Major Computer Breach

Top executives were scrambling to set a response and recovery plan into action after an attacker successfully hacked into a corporate network early this month. This mock cyber attack was part of consulting firm Deloitte’s cyber war-gaming exercise designed to prepare corporations for a major security breach in their IT systems.  This cyber war exercise demonstrates the number of variables that must be dealt with in a crisis management situation involving network break-ins. Scenarios like this are important to rehearse given the increasing number of IT security breaches. Target®, Home Depot®, Sony®, JPMorgan ChaseSM and UPS® are just a few enterprises that have had to deal with real cyber attacks in recent years.
