Hackers for Hire Group Identified

Symantec® is reporting a suspected “hackers for hire” service operating from China is likely responsible for a malicious strike last year that broke into the defense industry network using an SQL injection attack. This cyber-espionage campaign is believed to be part of a larger operation that has affected hundreds of organizations in the U.S. Primarily targeting governmental and commercial organizations, the group identified as “Hidden Lynx” has been active since at least 2009. It is known to use two Trojans: Backdoor.Moudoor for large-scale attacks across a number of industries and Trojan.Naid for limited attacks against high-valued targets.
