Internet Explorer® 10 Best at Blocking Malware

May 21, 2013  security suite

Microsoft® has done it! Its Internet Explorer® (IE) 10 is the best browser at blocking malware downloads, according to NSS Labs. Tested against 754 real-world malicious software links, the latest version of IE produced a mean block rate of 99.96%. This means only 4 out of 1,000 socially engineered malware attacks might get passed IE 10. That’s impressive when considering the competition. The next best browser was Google Chrome™ 25/26, which ranked a mean block rate of 83.16%. It was followed by Apple® Safari® 5 with 10.15%, Mozilla® Firefox® 19 at 9.92% and finally Opera® 12 at 1.87%.
