Linksys® Routers Vulnerable to Worm

Linksys® routers seem to be falling prey to a worm program that is infecting the router’s E-Series product line. The self-replicating worm program scans for vulnerable devices, infects them and proliferates. Entering through an authentication bypass vulnerability, security researchers are unclear about the worm’s main objective. Strings in the binary suggest a possible botnet that would allow attackers to control remotely. Linksys® reports it is currently working on a fix.
