Rogue Antivirus attacks Facebook users

April 19, 2010  Security Suite

In the Farm Town application which is used by more than 9 million people each month, a false advertisement for electronic postcards (eCards) has appeared. If the user clicks on it, they will be redirected to a site offering a bogus antivirus. The banner got onto the application through a marketing channel for Cubic.com, who was unable to catch the false advertising through their current security processes. For our users, we recommend using only proven brands of antivirus or antispyware and to properly research any other software or get information from experts.
