Abuse of search engine results
A research study on popular search phrases was carried out by Symantec and showed almost a third of the top one hundred search results offered by search engines, led to websites infected with malware. These websites attempted to acquire personal information from the users or directly installed malware into the user’s system. The 14-day analysis showed that less than half of the dangerous links were removed by the search engines from their search results. The remaining links were still displayed to users for at least14 days.
