Microsoft® Will Not Inspect Customers’ Private Content

Microsoft® reports it is updating its terms of service for customers and will no longer inspect a customer’s private content even if it’s called into question. Microsoft® announced any matters regarding stolen intellectual or physical property will be referred to law enforcement instead of its own internal investigators. This change in policy follows Microsoft® reporting it accessed a former employee’s Hotmail® account in an investigation to identify leaked software updates. The public’s outcry spurred this policy change.
