August 16, 2013  Security Suite

A cybercrime team from Russia is offering a new banking Trojan that targets the Linux® operating system. Known as “Hand of Thief", this malware features form-grabbers for HTTP and HTTPS sessions so information like logins and passwords can be stolen; backdoor capabilities to get access to a users’ computer and their personal information; as well as blocked access to security updates and anti-virus providers. A variety of Web browsers, Linux® desktop distributions and desktop environments may be vulnerable. Users can become infected when clicking on unknown URLs received through an email or social media.
