New Financial Malware Takes Different Strategy

A new financial malware reportedly targeting users of online financial services is taking a different, and lucrative, approach to stealing. Similar to other financial malware, this Trojan program known as Neverquest penetrates a victim’s browser to modify financial websites. It exploits vulnerabilities in browsers’ plug-ins to install on a user’s computer and steal usernames, passwords as well as remotely control a victim’s computer using Virtual Network Computing (VNC). In addition, Neverquest reportedly is capable of following the keywords used by its victims to find other financial websites to infiltrate. Once accessed, the attackers can access financial accounts, bypassing certain account protection mechanisms since these unauthorized actions take place through the victim's browser.
