New Version of AutoRun Malware

Security experts have revealed statistics indicating a dramatic rise in the of presence of a new version of malware called AutoRun. This malware infected almost 28 million files within the past month. AutoRun malware uses the function of automatically running external disks to infect your computer. This method has already been used by the well known Conficker malware which you've been informed about in our previous news. AutoRun has exceeded Conficker in the number of infected files - nearly four times. This malware uses the victim’s computer primarily to send spam and further spread itself. We recommend that you be careful when using USB disks, and check your computer for malware using your security software more often.

Opening email attachments just got a bit more risky, especially for Microsoft Office® users working in the energy sector. Security software company Symantec® reports a new malware program named Trojan.Laziok arrives in emails and exploits a vulnerability in Microsoft Office® that actually should have been patched by users back in April 2012.
