Experts are pointing to a growing trend in abuse of the Autorun function. The most famous exploits of this function appeared in the Conficker and Stuxnet worms. It’s well known that more than half of current malware abuse this feature in regards to the development of storage media. Many users don’t realize that there is danger from any storage media, whether mobile phones, digital cameras, mp3 players or gaming consoles. This is especially true of small to medium-sized companies, which lag in basic safety measures and allow this method of spreading malware to celebrate it’s greatest acheivements; frequent exchanges of data and the use of private media for business purposes. In the future, this problem will further intensify thanks to the arrival of the USB-3 standard and the constantly increasing capacity of storage medias.

New Trojan Targets Vulnerable Microsoft Office® Users

Opening email attachments just got a bit more risky, especially for Microsoft Office® users working in the energy sector. Security software company Symantec® reports a new malware program named Trojan.Laziok arrives in emails and exploits a vulnerability in Microsoft Office® that actually should have been patched by users back in April 2012.
