Massive Retaliatory DDoS Attack Slows Internet

April 17, 2013  security suite

Focused primarily against servers of the nonprofit, anti-spam organization Spamhaus, the distributed denial of service attack was reportedly led by a Netherlands company in an act of revenge for blocking its servers. Cyberbunker provides services to a mix of groups, many of which are suspected spammers from Eastern Europe. The assault, noted as one of the largest DDoS attacks in Internet history, significantly slowed down Spamhaus services affecting users worldwide.
