Hacking Group Reportedly Linked to Chinese Military

A security technologies company is reporting a Chinese cyber espionage group, nicknamed “Putter Panda,” is part of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). In a 62-page report, CrowdStrike identifies Internet postings, photo uploads and domain registrations as evidence to the group’s ties to Unit 61486 of China’s PLA. This revelation comes less than a month after the US Justice Department indicted five Chinese military officers with stealing corporate trade secrets from six US companies and unions.
