Promised Heartbleed Bug Fix Actually Infects Computers

Phishing emails are falsely promising to remove the Heartbleed bug from computers, and all users have to do is download an attachment containing a Heartbleed removal tool. The truth is the Heartbleed flaw is not a computer issue, but a vulnerability in operating systems, routers and networking equipment. Trend Micro® reports the attachment in this phishing campaign is actually malicious software and should not be downloaded. Users’ best method of protection against the Heartbleed bug is to change online passwords.
