Security Researchers Warn Apple® iOS Vulnerable to Cyberattacks

November 28, 2014  Security Suite

An Apple® iOS flaw allows cyberattackers to replace legitimate App StoreSM apps with malware designed to steal personal information, such as banking and email login credentials. Discovered by IT security company FireEye, the iOS vulnerability gives cybercriminals the ability to replace genuine apps on iOS-run devices without the user’s knowledge. The “Masque Attack” tricks iPhone® and iPad® users into unwittingly installing malicious code either through SMS texts, emails and similar methods.  Once installed, the malware takes over the legitimate app masking itself as the real application.
