How Do I Activate Windows® XP Online
Every new installation of a Microsoft Windows® XP operating system needs to be activated. This is a confirmation of authenticity of your product key, and can be done online or offline by phone. The easier way is to activate your software is via the Internet, so install the drivers for your network controller and connect to the Internet. Make sure that you are online before you start the Windows® activation process. If you are already connected, follow the steps below to activate your Windows® XP product.
Instructions:
- First, you need to locate the “two keys” icon, this usually appears in the system tray (at the bottom-right corner, next to the clock) or you can find it in the location “Start > All Programs > Accessories > System tools”.
- Click on the icon. The activation window will pop up.
- Choose the “Yes, let's activate Windows over the Internet now” radio button and click on the “Next” button.
- If everything is correct, you will receive a “You have successfully activated your copy of Windows” message. Click on the “OK” button.
Tips and Tricks:
- If you receive an error message after the Internet activation and you are sure that you are connected to the Internet, try to repeat this process later.
- If you are not able to activate the product online and you need to use a phone service, follow the steps from the first screen for offline activation.
Warnings:
- You have 30 days to activate the product.
