How Do I Disable Add-Ons in Internet Explorer®

Users of Internet Explorer® are offered many add-ons and extensions for this popular Internet browser. Some of them are legitimate and useful while others may be bothersome. Thankfully, you can customize your browser and enable or disable any add-ons or plug-ins that are installed. In the instructions below you can learn how to disable your add-ons in Internet Explorer®.

Disabling add-ons in Internet Explorer®:

  1. In the menu, click on “Tools” and select the “Internet Options”.
  2. Switch to the “Programs” tab.
  3. Click on the “Manage add-ons” button.
  4. You should see a list of the installed add-ons or plug-ins. Select the one you want to disable and click on the “Disable” button.
  5. Click on the “Close” button to close the “Manage Add-ons” window.
  6. Restart Internet Explorer®.

Tips and Tricks:

  • You can manage the other extensions of your IE browser; just switch categories in the left pane of the “Manage Add-ons” window.
