How Do I Disable Aero® for Specific Applications

Sometimes, it may be that a computer can barely handle launching or working in complex applications. The first solution that may come to mind is turning off the Aero® graphic interface. This may be a helpful solution and can prevent incompatibility issues. In this article  you will learn how to set Windows ® Aero® to automatically deactivate for certain applications.

Automatic disabling of Windows® Aero®:

  1. Find the launch file for the application or its shortcut on the desktop. Right click on it.
  2. Select the “Properties” option.
  3. Switch to the “Compatibility” tab.
  4. Tick the “Disable desktop composition” checkbox in the “Settings” section.
  5. Click on the “OK” button.

Tips and Tricks:

  • If you want to completely disable Windows® Aero® follow the instructions in the article that focuses on disabling Aero® in Windows® 7.
  • If you want to set compatibility settings for all users on the computer, click on the “Change setting for all users” button in the “Compatibility” tab and perform the same settings as mentioned in the above instructions. You must have administrator rights for this operation.
