How Do I Easily Connect Outlook® With Facebook®
You can say that communication using social networks has become almost as popular as email messaging. The Microsoft Office® 2010 suite conveniently offers a tool to the implement Facebook®, MySpace®, Windows Live®, and LinkedIn® accounts directly into the Outlook® 2010 application. You simply download and install the add-on from the Microsoft® website and then you can control your email and social network accounts through a single program. The instructions below will show you how to set up such a connection and then connect your Facebook® or other social network to Outlook® 2010.
Outlook® – Facebook® connection:
- Launch the Microsoft® Outlook® 2010 application.
- In the left pane, select any email from your mailbox.
- In the main section where the email is displayed you can see the “People Pane” at the bottom. Expand it.
- Click on the green “+” button and choose the “on Facebook” option.
- Click on the “Next” button.
- In the description of the “Social Network Accounts” section, you can see the “View social networks provide available online” hyperlink. Click on it.
- The support page will open in your Internet browser. Click on the Facebook® icon.
- Now, select the language and download file suitable to your operating system.
- Locate the downloaded file and run it. Go through the installation wizard until the installation finishes.
- Switch again to the Outlook® application and click on the green “+” button again and choose the “on Facebook” option.
- Check the “Facebook” checkbox and fill in your account name and password.
- Click on the “Connect” button and then on the “Finish” button.
- Now your email and Facebook® account are connected! You can now see the profiles of people you communicate with through the Microsoft Office® Outlook® 2010.
Tips and Tricks:
- To add a Facebook® user, just select him or her and click on the green “+ add” button and select the “on Facebook” option.
- To remove the Facebook® account from the Outlook® connection, click on the green “+ Add” button and select the “on Other Social Network” option and click on the “cross” button next to the Facebook® account. Confirm it by clicking on the “Yes” button. Outlook® will no longer download information from Facebook®.
