Banking Malware Disguises as Secure Connection

A new banking malware being distributed through spam messages compromises a computer and mimics a secure connection when a user tries to access a secure SSL connection with banking websites. Known as Dyreza or Dyre, this malware nabs users’ credentials when they navigate to Bank of America®, NatWest®, Citibank®, RBS and Ulsterbank, reports CSIS's eCrime Unit Head and CSIS's Security Group CTO Peter Kruse. The malware infiltrates email as a fake invoice .zip file or as a phishing link hosted on legitimate domains.
