NSA May Be Tracking Activity on TOR Network

Reports from German broadcasters claim the National Security Agency (NSA) is using a spying tool to monitor online activity of users connected to two TOR servers in Germany. TOR, formally known as The Onion Router, is a software program that encrypts data traffic through random servers so sites visited as well as a user’s physical location cannot be tracked. However, the NSA program XKeyScore may be able to track TOR users as noted in the tracking specifications released by the two broadcasters. According to reports, the NSA released a written statement proclaiming “the communications of people who are not foreign intelligence targets are of no use to the agency."
