Zero-Day Vulnerability Sneaks In Through Internet Explorer® 10

Targeted attacks against Internet Explorer® 10 reportedly are exploiting a zero-day vulnerability in the browser just two days after Microsoft® released a patch update. Most notably, the Veterans of Foreign Wars® website,, fell victim to this cyberattack allegedly initiated in China. Security company FireEye™ reported this attack uses malicious code to download a backdoor that allows files to be stolen from victims’ computers without their knowledge. The VFW® has fixed the vulnerability on its website.

New Trojan Targets Vulnerable Microsoft Office® Users

Opening email attachments just got a bit more risky, especially for Microsoft Office® users working in the energy sector. Security software company Symantec® reports a new malware program named Trojan.Laziok arrives in emails and exploits a vulnerability in Microsoft Office® that actually should have been patched by users back in April 2012.
